Samsung is well known for creating some of the best top-tier smart phones, but it also has developed a reputation for building out-of-the-ordinary mobile gadgets as well. Now Samsung is ready to test another creation.

The Samsung Galaxy Note, a 5.3-inch hybrid phone-tablet device, has wowed several tech journalists, although there are plenty of other reporters who are not fans of the untraditional mobile device.

Samsung is reportedly pursuing a tiny, 2.8-inch display Android phone, which recently cleared the FCC. The phone “Galaxy Pocket” will run on Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket packs a decent punch at 832 MHz processor and 3GB of internal storage. Another nice feature is the fact that the phone will include a small camera on the back. The camera is only 2 megapixels according to Engadget, which is far below other Samsung Android-based smart phones, but for simple picture-taking, this could actually be a great deal.

Endadget is also reporting that AT&T will likely be the first to carry the phone, though the tech blog warns “anything is possible,” so the phone could eventually make its way to other carriers.

There are no details on pricing at this time, but because it’s such a small-size phone, it’s fair to assume that it will be brought out at an entry-level price.

Samsung’s new smartphone, the Galaxy S III, is likely to be launched in Britain in April.

The new Samsung handset will supersede the Galaxy S II, which is widely seen as the top Android smartphone.

ZDNet Korea claimed to have confirmed the launch with Samsung’s advertising agency.

Samsung has not officially released Galaxy S III features but according to a technology blog, Boy Genius Report, it boasts of 1.5ghz quad-core processor, a 4.8-inch 1080p resolution display, 2GB RAM, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera. BGR said the handset would run Android 4.0.

The gadget blog also said that its own sources were predicting the launch for the new smartphone in April, The Telegraph reports.

It was earlier believed that Samsung would unveil the S III at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona but the firm had rejected such claims before the event saying: “the successor to the Galaxy S II smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product”.

Samsung has joined the ultrabook bandwagon in India. The company has launched two ultrabooks – one with 13.3 inch screen size and another with 14 inch – belonging to its Series 5 laptops in Indian market. While both sport a slick design and are built using aluminium and carbon fiber, the model with 14 inches screen is particularly noteworthy as it packs in one terabyte harddisk and a DVD drive in its sleek frame.

Both ultrabooks are powered by Intel core i5 2467M CPU. The smaller model has 4GB RAM while the one with 14-inch screen has 6GB. The MRP is Rs 48,990 for 13-inch ultrabook and Rs 54,390 for 14-inch model. The 13-inch model weighs around 1.42kg. The 14-inch model weighs around 1.84kg. Both ultrabooks have a screen resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The 13-inch model relies on Intel’s integrated graphics chip. The 14-inch model comes with Radeon HD7550, an entry-level graphics chip from AMD.

Most ultrabooks in the market use an SSD for storage. But Samsung has relied on traditional hard disk. To make sure that performance doesn’t suffer much due to it, the company has utilized Intel’s iSSD (integrated SSD) technology by embedding 16GB flash storage within the ultrabooks.

For consumers, it’s a mixed bag. They get lot more storage space but lose out on some speed advantage. SSDs are much faster and consume less battery. They are also expensive. The high price is one reason why all companies in India offers ultrabooks with 256GB or less storage. Samsung said that it would offer ultrabooks with SSD in near future.

“The Series 5 ultrabooks are a true showcase of Samsung’s capability to innovate and bring to life products that are designed keeping in mind the requirements of our consumers,” said Ranjit Yadav, Samsung’s country head for mobile & IT. He added that the company is also launching a movie streaming service that will offer buyers of Samsung laptops a steady supply of video content.

Ultrabook, a term coined by Intel last year, is a different type of laptop. Unlike other laptops, it has a slim and appealing design, offers better battery performance, is lightweight and is portable. A few months back, analysts at iSupply claimed that ultrabooks will account for nearly 40% of all laptops by 2015.

Samsung reportedly is working on an affordable tablet to compete with Amazon Kindle Fire and alike. As per the User Agent Profile, a Samsung tablet with model number GT-P3100 might be one of the affordable tablets due this year.

The tablet, named Samsung GT-P3100, will house a low power ARM11 mobile processor and is expected to feature 7-inch touchscreen display, reported PocketNow.

The device will have 1024×600 pixel resolution supporting display. Co-incidentally the Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 Plus also has the same resolution.

Surprisingly, the report lists ARM11 based processor for the GT-P3100 tablet. That means Samsung would be using its own Samsung S3C6410 Application processor which can clock up to 800 MHz clock speed.

With the low-power consuming ARM11 Architecture based mobile processor, the tablet surely does promise longer battery life, if a decently large battery has been bundled. Besides that, it is fine if this tablet has only front facing VGA camera for video chat. But no such details about the camera were revealed. As for the operating system, we believe Android 2.3 Gingerbread would be the best bet over here.

Even for Indian market, there is a dearth of decent specifications and build quality bearing tablets in the Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 price range. No wonder the BlackBerry PlayBook was sold like hot-cakes last month when RIM announced a special discount price of Rs 13,490 for the tablet.

At this moment, Amazon has not announced any plans or intentions to release Kindle Fire in India. But the existing lineup of tablets has certainly created a demand for affordable tablets with telephony or 3G data connection support.

Samsung may announce these affordable series of tablets later this year.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus launched in India with lighter and improved version of its predecessot with dual core 1.2 GHZ mobile processor, 7 inch LCD display.

Samsung Galaxy 7.0 Plus tablet comes with dual core 1.2GHZ mobile processor comes with 1GB of RAM with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution with LCD display, with better quality than one in Galaxy Tab GT- p1000 . Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus comes with Android 3.2 HOneycomb Tablet Operating System.

Samsung has played it smart by keeping the same form factor but has packed more muscle in the tablet. However, the price of Rs 26,990 will confuse the consumer and will force him to compare the device with Galaxy Tab 730 and other tablets that have a 10.1 inch screen, and are priced between Rs 26,000 and Rs 30,000.
